Determined to Succeed
Sindhu T from Thiruvillamala in Thrissur district of Kerala opened a small cosmetic and beauty care products shop near her home four years ago. However, the shop hardly generated enough earnings due to lack of fast-moving products. Sindhu was looking for a loan to revive her shop, but all her efforts failed for lack of collateral securities demanded by the financiers.
She continued her search for financial assistance and was introduced to Muthoot Microfin by a friend. Impressed by the organisation’s simple procedures, Sindhu immediately availed her first cycle loan of ₹ 20,000 and since then, she hasn’t looked back. Sindhu expanded her product line by including fast moving products which brought more customers to the shop. A month later, she started earning ₹5000 as profit.
Subsequently, Sindhu decided to expand the shop with stationery and provision items, she realized that a small set-up on the side could add value. Months later, she availed her fifth cycle loan of ₹70,000 and had her stationery business up and running alongside the cosmetic shop. Further, Sindhu employed a neighbour at the shop and started ladies tailoring service and selling readymade dresses. A mixture of tiny businesses now provides her enough income. Financial independence enabled Sindhu to feel empowered. Unlike the other shops and stores in the vicinity, Sindhu’s endeavours exemplify true woman power and resilience. The determination and hard work have turned Sindhu into a successful businesswoman in her own right. Sindhu says, “My association with Muthoot Microfin at the right time helped my cause and I will recommend the organisation to all my friends who want to succeed in their entrepreneurial life”. Sindhu is looking forward to opening another shop in the nearby shopping complex with the help of further Muthoot Microfin loans.
